2013 Boots & Butts

If you are a blog follower, you know we enjoy rodeos. In 2005 (12 month period) we attend 15 rodeos in 4 different states. We like rodeos. Hubby and I grew up attending the Sitting Bull Stampede in Mobridge SD on the 4th of July. Actually, we usually went on July 2nd when kids got in free. The Days of 76 Rodeo in Deadwood SD is one of our summer favorites. We timed our stay in the Black Hills this year to coincide with that event. There were 5 rodeo sessions; we attended 3 of them.

The Jungle - My Garden

A good friend looked after the flowers and the garden while we were playing in the Black Hills. I finally had/took time to water and check out the growth of the veggies tonight.

The roma tomatoes are growing over the rabbit fencing.

The tallest plants are the cucumbers growing on a trellis.

(It makes them easier to find...sometimes.)

We should have the first grape tomatoes of the season by the weekend.

One roma tomato is ripening.

They are all quite small in size right now.

I picked cucumbers last Thursday and found 3

super sized ones today, along with a half dozen 

of more reasonable size.

We've been eating fresh cucumbers since early July.

I finally see some peppers on the plants.

The Flora Along Deerfield Road

We drove The Deerfield Road from Hill City SD to Newcastle WY on Monday of this week. The colorful wild flowers and stunning trees were worthy of many photographs. I had the opportunity to play with the camera, so here are some of my results.

I do not know the names of most of the flowers. Rather than spend time researching, I am just going to post what I saw. Hope you enjoy the drive on the backroads through the Black Hills.
