Monday with Willa

It has been a busy day. I apologize for not getting a new post on before midnight. I thought today may be another busy day with the dolls, but we brought a tub of more attic toys salvaged from our kids and that is what Willa played with most of the day. I will try two videos and some still photos.

I love to listen to her conversations when she is playing.

The toys had to be moved to the basement, Grandpa's domain,
when Grandma went out with the girls for a couple of hours.

She played and played and played

The yacht, the bus, the jeep & camper
all from Fisher Price of 30 and 40 years ago

 and the Sesame Street house

An opera singer????

I don't think I will have to dig into the stash of 'new toys'
this week. She seems very content to play with these 'old' toys.

Maybe tomorrow we will get to the Thrift Store goodies...

All is well Mommy and Daddy!

Willa Rides Again, Movie

OK. I figured it out. Here is the movie of Willa riding Trigger. (Grandpa named the horse.)

More tomorrow about Willa's visit to G'pa & G'ma's house.

Willa Visits G'pa & G'ma

This post is to let Mommy and Daddy know what happens when Willa visits Grandpa and Grandma's house without them. Grandpa goes to the attic and finds toys for Willa that belonged to her Daddy.

She noticed the horse immediately when she entered the living room.

She even knew it was a horse and called it horse.

She wanted to share her ride with a baby.
The baby is in green in front of her.

This baby needed a ride, too.
More about the babies tomorrow.

This photo is for Auntie...
Notice the shirt?????

And finally Willa rides again...
But the video isn't working.
I will try a separate video post.

More tomorrow Mommy and Daddy.

Willa Eats

I know Willa likes pasta, so I made a healthy pasta with tomato sauce for dinner on Saturday. We also bought some fresh sweet corn. So this post is of Willa eating.

Thank goodness for long sleeved bibs/cover-ups from IKEA.
I think I need a set at my house.

She did a pretty good job attacking the corn kernels on the cob.

So much fun to watch her eat it.

She got the same meal again on Monday for lunch. Leftovers.

This was the first time her parents watched her eat corn on the cob.
They have cut it off for her in the past.

She likes her food!
Most of the time, she is not a fussy eater.

More Baby Pictures

The new family member came home on Sunday afternoon, about 36 hours after arriving into this world, so different from his big sister's birth.

Big sister was very curious and had to be right on top of Mommy and baby.

It is so hard being two years old.
This was one of her melt-downs.
There will be more, I am sure...

Not surprising, Marek spent most of yesterday afternoon sleeping...
until it was time for everyone to go to bed...

This morning (Monday) he had his eyes open long enough to get some pictures.

We each got some special bonding time with him.

A little sweetie!

These pictures will be it for awhile.
But I have lots of Willa pictures...

Early Arrival

We got home from the Black Hills around 6:00 PM on Friday. We unloaded the car and I put the food away, then sat down to visit with my Mom who was there for the weekend. At 8:20 I got a phone call saying our daughter-in-law's water had broken. We repacked our suitcases and were back on the road by 10:00 PM to spend the days and nights with Miss Willa while she and we awaited the arrival of a new baby.

1:00 AM  photo

They left the house at 3:00 AM
Marek Curtis Burton Ehresmann arrived at 4:06 AM
6 lbs. 15 oz. and 19 inches
some dark hair hiding under the hat
also arriving about two weeks 'early'

This is Willa's 1 week baby picture
lots of dark hair, same nose?

It is too early to tell if Marek looks like Karl...
camera's weren't as good 31 years ago

More photos from the proud grandparents in the future
like probably every day...

A Little Wine and More

As long as we were in Hill City, we stopped at Prairie Berry to purchase some wine for the SD basket for the January 2013 Cancer Benefit at CV. Hubby sampled the wine and made two selections, I went taste testing & scouting for some other SD products. These are our results:

Red Ass Rhubarb & Pink Slipper wine
two wine coasters & some Raspberry & Rhubarb Compote

This is Prairie Berry's signature wine

Back to some sights in Hill City...
Wine bottles used as slow drip watering system

Great advertisement for the wineries in the area

Stone Faces is another of the area wineries
Naked Winery features wines from WA & OR

One can taste olive oils at Twisted Pine

I liked the old wagon & barrels out front of Twisted Pine

Several Big Horn Sheep Crossing signs are along the highway
to Hill City. We did not see any on Wednesday, but have on
another trip. This establishment is new.

The 1880 Train was leaving Hill City
Another train ride is on my To Do List, but
not when it is 100º

It is so hard to see the damage from the Mountain Pine Beetles

A Visit to Hill City

We have been in the Hills for a week and really have done very little because:
1) it's been too hot, 90-100+ degrees every day
2) my goal on this trip was to read and write-3 new stories done, and 6 books read, some for fun & some for knowlege
3) we have been to the Hills so many times, we weren't sure what to do that would be 'different'

Friends invited us to join them for dinner at the Alpine Inn tonight. My plan was to take photos of my dinner and post them. After my plates were cleared, I remembered the camera. Darn!

Plan B: walk the main street of Hill City and take some photos. Here are the results of Plan B.

Jack caught my eye

This metal horse was across the street from Jack

Do you recognize reused metal pieces beyond the spoon?

The horse's front whither
What do you recognize?

Horse's foreleg

I loved the color and barb wire design on the body

Jack's mule, Lone Star

Garry Underwood from NE was the sculpture for all three pieces

Sturgis Rally wear is EVERYWHERE

These flowers crafted from brown wrapping paper

in the front window of an art gallery caught my eye
(sorry about the glass glare)

Our dinner destination this evening

Evening dinner choices tonight and every night...
6 or 12 ounce bacon wrapped fillet mignon served with
baked potato, white toast and a quarter head of lettuce
drizzled with ranch dressing
Their lunch menu offers a variety of very tasty items,
but evenings are all the same. There is always a line waiting to
be seated, lunch or dinner.
