
This is a photo of the Gila Monster seen on the Hackleberry Springs Hike a couple of weeks ago. These critters live under ground 95% of the time... so some in the Hiking Club were very fortunate to see this one. It was about 18-20 inches long.

The rattlesnakes are out, also. A few of the hikers report seeing them. So far no one has a picture though. Temps are to be in the high 80s this weekend. Just perfect for the snakes.
