Lil' Gopher Fan

Grandpa & Daddy are trying very hard to share their love of football, especially the Minnesota Gophers, with little Willa. Grandpa & Auntie buy her team shirts. They dress her in the school colors on game day. And they make her watch the game, as painful as it is.

I'm ready for the game!

Grandpa was probably scolding the Gophers for a stupid play.

OK. This isn't too bad.

Save me Grandma! It is just too painful to watch them loose again.

Maybe it will get better the second half?

Could it be the shirt you got me?

There's always next year...

Grandpa's Phone

She knows exactly what to do with a cell phone. However, if someone is talking to her on the phone, she doesn't say anything. Here are some photos of Willa and Grandpa's phone. I'm not sure who had the most fun, Willa or Grandpa!

Although this was a 'new trick' to G & G, she has
certainly played with a cell phone before!

She went off by herself so she could 'talk' privately!

She's talking to somebody!

Oops! A commercial distracted her.

Funny noises & funny faces!

I want music. Where's the music?

Make music again, Grandpa!

This is so much FUN!

Where's the light? the pictures? the music?

That was fun Grandpa. I'm done playing with it for now.

Willa Weekend

Willa enjoys turning in circles until she gets dizzy. Here is one of her turning and turning times from the weekend, caught on video.

October's Party

October gave a party;

The leaves by hundreds came -

The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.

The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,

Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

~George Cooper, "October's Party"

Do you remember having to memorize this poem in school? I had forgotten all about it until I saw it on a face book post this month. On a beautiful October day, I took my camera and went out into my yard.   These are my photos to go with "October's Party" by George Cooper. The poem I memorized in third grade.

The Gourds

We are beginning to pack for our trip south. With all the summer house projects, boxes and objects got moved from room to room, some of them displaced for a couple of months. So it was last week I found the box of gourds with the projects I had started (some completed) last winter in AZ. I brought some of them home thinking I would finish them.

My friend Joan did not forget the gourd project. She asked if I had completed what she thought was the pepper project. Thanks to her, I did put it on the list of things to do before we leave.

You remember the gourds?

Just washed & ready for paint

Painted, varnished and sealed

Curt drilled the holes. I found the twine I had bought with this project in mind. Thanks, Bernie. Drilling the holes was easy.

After a couple of false starts...

I found a tying procedure I thought might work.

TA DA!
My gourd peppers for my winter home. Not exactly sure where they will go. You might have to check back in November to see where they found a new home.

Of course as I was working, I thought of another idea. I might work on that before we go...
