On the way home from the Hills on Tuesday, we decided to not travel the interstate and instead head north and west through some of the loneliest roads in SD. Curt traveled these roads many years on the way to and from Guard camps in the Black Hills or out west. It was neat to see different scenery and to reminisce.
This is Bear Butte, a Native American religious and spiritual landmark. From this side of the mountain, it does resemble a bear, lying on its stomach. For the first time, I saw ears on the head, on the little hill on the right side of the photo.
We did see antelope on our drive across western SD. It was neat to have a day of different scenery and less traveled roads. Really nice to be home for awhile.
