Meet and Greet

That was the title for the geocaching event I scheduled for November 6th in Arizona while I was still in South Dakota. November 6 and 7 (depending on where you were located in the world) were special days in the geocaching community. American Astronaut Rick Mastracchio took a travel bug along on his trip to the Space Station. Once he arrives, I imagine he will also find the geocache that was placed by on an earlier mission to the station orbiting in outer space. NASA and Geocaching have teamed up to use this space mission to teach students about science and geography. Since there was not an event scheduled close to us in the east valley of the metro area, I decided to schedule one.

On the day of the event I was expecting about 60 people. We gathered at 6:00 on the outdoor patio of one of my favorite eating establishments.

This was the Early Bird table

Some of these folks are from Wisconsin

The lady on the left had just, JUST, arrived from Ontario

This couple is sporting travel bugs on their polo shirt sleeves

Young and old...seasoned...mature... were in attendance.

Why are these 3 so animated?

Travel Bugs!

It was a beautiful evening to be eating outdoors, meeting new people and greeting old friends. Attendance that evening for the Meet & Greet - Geocaching in Space event was  93 people! It was so successful, I am planning another one.
