Killing time until the bears are fed.
Michelle was feeding the bears.
She is a high school classmate of Auntie Kari.
(Michelle worked at a preserve in Africa and had
lion cubs as ring bearers at her wedding.)
As part of the enrichment program for the bears,
the food is placed in and on the logs.
The one bear enjoys sitting at the concrete table
to eat his/her food.
That day the bears got doughnuts for a treat,
along with fruit and their 'food pellets'.
We checked on the jaguars.
The black one paces all the time.
We watched kids place enrichment items
in some of the monkey cages.
Their food was wrapped in blankets and
placed amongst their climbing apparatuses.
A monkey is slowly unwrapping the
blanket to get to his food.
Stopping to see the turtles on the way
to the penguin pool.
With noses pressed to the glass...
We watched the penguins swim
and catch the fish.
Then it was time to feed the geese.
