Caching in the Desert

Since introducing geocaching to our CV neighbors last month, or maybe it was introducing our CV neighbors to geocaching last month, they have requested more geo adventures. This was one request we were happy to accept because... we enjoy their company, we also like geocaching, we enjoy sharing our enthusiasm and knowledge, and it is a great reason to be out in the desert.

This post is about two geo adventures in the AJ area. The weather has been more in the normal range, finally!  All the fall and winter rains have produced an awesome wildflower crop. And the end result of those two trips and their first excursion gave us a geo-art.

these were gadget geocaches,
not your usual find a container in a pile of rocks

the cache owner is very creative
spending time & money for our enjoyment

the cache owner also LOVES palo verde trees

a good time was had by all

Superstition Mountain

while eating lunch a horse & buggy drove up to the
Hitchin' Post

the reins were draped over the fence

and the four riders came in for some music and food
the horse waited patiently for their return
the end of this geo excursion...

globe mallow buds

don't know this one

more gadget caches

spring has arrived

a shopping cart in the desert
no homeless camp, no nearby store or homes
another puzzle, but not a geocaching puzzle

the green desert and the Superstition Mountain

the CO built a beautiful wooden box for this geocache

the boys walking in the desert

a few poppies and something purple

many riders and horses in that particular area

two riders, four horses (two on lead)

When we drove by the Hitchin' Post, several horses were tied up at the fence where the buggy was parked when we had stopped for lunch.
