USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor

Hubby and I visited the memorial 27 years ago. The major changes are the ones executed by the National Park Service at all the parks in the US. Only one ferry takes visitors to and from the Arizona Memorial. Visitors get 30 minutes and then the next group arrives and the previous group leaves. Tickets for the ferry ride are reserved and stand by options. If purchased through a tour company, the tour companies must secure your 'purchased' ticket for you from the limited number of tickets available for that particular day. Sounds much like our experience in Glacier National Park last summer.

The other change I remember is this time we were given earbuds and a 'phone' with narration at each of 29 locations. I hate ear buds that don't fit. Twenty-seven years ago, a park ranger talked to us at the memorial and pointed out the oil spill on the water. I did not see any oil today. There were two park staff at the memorial. Their job appeared to be making certain we all got on the naval ferry when we were supposed to and to remind us of the rules: no cell phone usage and speak reverently. They may have answered questions if anyone asked one of them.
