this was the first car geocache "Parking in the Past"
noticed these when we drove out of the cemetery
parked on top of containers
a lot full of cars, some classics
posted these before
I had not heard of car art. Janice said they have parades and car shows in TX for car art.
I did not see this sign at the Worlds Largest National Junk Car Forest. I saw the sign in another geocachers post on "Rust in Peace."
The junk car forest appears to be an area for ATVs and or dirt bikes based on the trails down the hillside that were NOT appropriate for the truck.
variety of vehicles
variety of burial techniques
artwork
home of another geocache
stacked vehicles
and a memorial amongst the junk cars
very colorful
Similar to Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo TX where we stopped in October. The tour buses did NOT stop here like they did in TX!
Update: I said I would never, ever come back to this area. This third geo-trip was to be my last. Since being home I have learned we missed two rather important geocaches along the ET Highway and will probably go back some day to get those. We also missed a pioneer cemetery in Goldfield and a few other interesting caches. So we probably will come back to the area...someday. Don't say never!
The next geo-adventure will be in the Provo UT area as we head back to SD.

ReplyDeleteYou know how to have fun! Think, if it weren't for geocaching, we wouldn't know about these places, PROBABLY. Have a fun journey north!
