A Busy Weekend, Part 2

We were so excited to get a text early last week saying AZ friends would be stopping in Sioux Falls on their way to northeastern (and I do mean northeastern) MN for the summer doing a work camping gig. We had done some geocaching with Jon & Sherry in March, just before we left AZ. (They winter in Globe, so we get together while we are in AZ.) We have geocached together in the Black Hills two summers when they worked at Mt. Rushmore, and in Seattle when we met at the 15th anniversary of geocaching, and in Cincinnati when we met at GeoWoodStock...you get the idea. We either met somewhere or follow each other in the off seasons, except when we traveled to the northeast last September and they didn't have time to see us. A joke between the four of us!

After getting settled at the nearby campground and visiting with a navy buddy, they came to the house for happy hour and dinner. We needed to visit and make a plan for Sunday*.

Sunday was our day of geocaching.

first find of the day
a newly released geocache
I solved the puzzle, but we were second to find on the log

completing my Adventure Lab in downtown SF

Sherry doing the selfie at the statue

there was a photo shoot happening
photographer wearing black in the crosswalk (street) on the right
lady in a red graduation hat sitting in the street on the left

second Adventure Lab set of geocaches downtown

taking us to art works

found this cute cache container while eating lunch on nearby church steps

then the third set of Adventure Lab caches on the campus

then back to a tricky one
Jon made the find, Hubby scored the cache
Sherry took the photo (as did I)

then to The Falls
it's not often anyone (besides Sherry) get a photo of Jon
while he's working the camera

another geocache at The Falls

another group selfie at The Falls

and just one more geocache to end the day
while touring the city
followed by dinner on the picnic table at their campsite

Thanks for making a stop in our corner of the world, Jon & Sherry.
We just might make it to northeastern MN later this summer!

*The four of us decided not to wear masks around each other, but did wear them when entering any business (getting our take-out lunch) and used hand sanitizer frequently. We know they are careful when out in public, as are we, and we had seen each other the end of March and were practicing social distancing back then. No hugs, which I really miss, but memories to last a lifetime...and the photos to remind me.

  1. It was a brief stop but we packed a full day+ in! So good to see you both again and get to see your home. Hope to see you in the coming months. Safe safe, stay healthy. Virtual hugs!
