March Catch Up

Not much has been happening this month. We have been determining when we will be heading back to South Dakota. Hubby has had a few follow-up medical tests; nothing serious, just precautionary. We continued with lots of social distancing, wearing our masks, and staying home. The weather has been all over the map from winter-ish to spring-ish; from highs in the 50s to a couple days of high 80s.

Lemon Supreme Pie

I was rather proud of the Lemon Supreme Pie I made using most of the large lemons donated by a friend. I do not make meringue, so needed a recipe that would eliminate whipped egg whites. This was very similar to the lemon supreme pie at Bakers Square or Perkins. It was very good.

The most exciting happening of the month thus far was receiving our second Covid vaccine shots. We drove the 60+ miles to Goodyear so I could get my shot at 9:30 AM and then drove to Chandler/Gilbert area so Hubby could get his at 11:00 AM. Neither of us had any reaction to this shot. We did put Vicks on the injection site to reduce any pain. (It was a recommendation by the nurse who gave the first shot to Hubby.) We are so happy to have gotten these shots and are looking forward to more family time in the near future. We'll continue to wear our masks when we go to stores and in crowds of people. At least now I feel I can join a crowd if I wear a mask.

And because we are planning to leave AZ the end of the month, we have been thinking about the geocaching we REALLY want to do before we leave. We took a little road trip on Saturday to work on that list. It wasn't an exciting road trip but I did take the camera along and captured some of what we saw.

I always wonder when I see one shoe, like WTH? Wouldn't you know if you left a shoe? Even a sort-of-sandal? If you make the photo larger, you may notice lots of rabbit-doo on the ground. The blob of white in the upper left is cotton. The nearby fields grew cotton in their last planting.

The shoe was just a very small piece of the garbage dumped at this corner in the country. It was appalling to see all the garbage people have deposited near the trees. I know it costs money to get rid of tires, but this was way more than discarded tires, although there were a LOT of tires!

Bud Light seemed to be the drink of choice for one litterbug

in fact, fields in all directions

palm trees
And a little farther down the road, a field of palm trees. At first I thought they might be date palms, but once we got closer...

...I don't think they are because these trees have not been trimmed like the trees we have seen at the date farms near Yuma.

We were surprised to see four riders moving in the aisles of the feed lots checking the cattle. The lots held different breeds and sizes of cattle.

  1. Even though your life seems quiet to you now, you still seem busy to me. Ha! Glad that the COVID shot task is done and you can feel more secure in coming in contact with people. Enjoy your next adventure and hope to see you again before you take off.
