After two days of rough water crossing the Tasman Sea, most of the passengers were very happy to have the opportunity (required to appear face-to-face with paperwork & passports) at the Customs Center at the port in Melbourne.
customs was quick and painless

Our main goal in Melbourne was to geocache as it would be a new country and a new state in a new country. OFD had shopping as a goal after we found and logged the first geocache not far from the bus stop. Shopping destination was the Lego Store.
displays from the Lego Store
This post will be of interesting things we saw as we meandered about the city.
Aboriginal painted tree trunks as art
not Taco Johns or Taco Bell, but Taco Bill
interesting metal addition to a large building
not certain if it has a use or is art
looks like a medieval torture device or farm equipment
another eating establishment
I did not look at the menu
found outside a barber shop
we noticed LOTS of busy barber shops in both countries
not many salons in the areas we walked
labeled Electric Supply
similar to the postal boxes, which were yellow or blue
cooked duck in the window in China Town
when pigs fly
"At the intersection of Bourke and Swanston high on top of tram poles, turning on the wind are four animals. Made of hand-beaten copper sculpture with gold-leaf detail there is a bird, a horse, a fish and a pig with wings. The bird is a reference to the city’s gardens; the horse symbolizes sport; the fish its waterways; and the winged pig a joke about the city’s hope and future." ~ Swantson Walk Sculptures
another common eatery in Australia
love the play on words
another bus stop poster
We also spent time at the Melbourne Library which I wrote about earlier on the blog.
