A Flash Mob Experience

Most of you have heard of a Flash Mob event. Usually the flash mob involves musicians or singers or dancers converging on a specific location for a brief moment in time to play their song, sing their song, or dance the song. At least those are the flash mobs I have viewed on the internet. The ones I have viewed are often an emotional experience.

Geocachers also have flash mob events. There was one in Sioux Falls this summer. We didn't attend. There was one earlier in November at a location in the valley, but we didn't attend that one either. Last Friday night there was one in Mesa, A Timely Flash. We attended.

We spent the afternoon geocaching in the area and at the appointed time, we gathered with other geocachers who had nothing more important to do on a Friday night in December!

The purpose of the event? "You will be asked to stand around the the clock with your flashlight shinning."

You purposely aren't seeing many faces of the about
twenty geocachers in attendance.

Take my word, most were over the age of 50.
Most. Not all.

Being the older generation, we don't really understand
Flash Mob.

At 6:05 we were to saunter or meander to the the end of the block, cross the street and gather around a clock. We did saunter, but as a group, not as individuals. As the 'group' got to the downtown clock... SURPRISE...a dog and his masters were on the corner and the dog was performing not so great tricks. HMMMM. Now what do we do?

AH HA! A Christmas Tree

We crossed the street, gathered around the fenced tree, and with flashlights shining sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus. Fifteen seconds later...

Now what?

We're done? This is it?

What are you going to do?
Would you like to look for a nearby geocache?

Sure!
So with flashlights in hand and

someone who had found the cache, we searched
for a geocache outside the Contemporary Arts Museum.
No luck.

We did enjoy a lasagna pizza at a great little pizzeria along Main Street before heading back to our little desert casa. So now Hubby and I can say we have participated in a Flash Mob event and cross it off The Bucket List.

I did get a few photos of some of the statues and downtown scenery.

A full moon rising over the sails of the
Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum.
