Friday in Yuma

We spent Friday morning with our geocaching friend Janice from Austin TX. We again drove the farming roads looking for geocaches.

a fairy duster bush at our first geocache of the day

vibrant color

fields and fields of produce

romaine lettuce field

picking the broccoli
conveyor belt arms

workers were on lunch break
notice the white bus transport in the background
probably towing a trailer with port-a-potties
and wash stations

interesting operation to watch
workers walk the field at the end of the arms, cutting the heads
and placing them on the conveyor belt
someone then places the heads in the boxes
hard work, long days

this broccoli looks over-ripe to me

Then the first of two events of the day...

Marthas Gardens...

...for a date shake

The second event for the day was a gathering in a shopping center parking lot to blow-up balloons...

these gals were selling Girl Scout cookies
they wanted a picture with Signal, the frog

With our full balloons we walked around a round-about to music and on cue, we popped the balloons and got out of area. The event is called a flash mob. The actual event only takes a few minutes. Lots of visiting happens before the event and after. More geocaching adventures on Saturday...
