A Week of Highs and Lows

It has been a week of emotional highs and lows. It started with a high coming off the successful 90th birthday party for my mother. That blog post will be coming.

Another high happened on Monday when we traded the 10 year old Chrysler van for a 2016 Ford Edge.

The van had served us very well, taking us to AZ for the winter, geocaching adventures, trips with the grandkids, etc. It was large enough to seat our family of seven...a real plus. Hubby has been pondering a vehicle trade for some time, like a year or so. He did all the choosing on this one, but so far I am the only one who has driven it. And I like it!

The real low of the week was having to say goodbye to Rocco, our grand dog. His enthusiasm and playfulness has decreased immensely in the last couple of years. He's been sleeping more and more and could no longer hear when his name was called or the doorbell rang. He did not enjoy walks at all this summer.

Rocco joined the family as a new puppy the summer of 2005. He was Hubby's walking companion when he needed to do 6 six-minute walks a day after his by-pass heart surgery in 2010. Rocco let us know when he was ready to play by bringing the tennis ball and dropping it in our lap, sitting on his haunches with his cute puppy-dog face until we threw the ball for him to retrieve. When we did not cooperate, he took the ball to the top of the basement steps (at the Watertown house), drop the ball and then chase down the steps after it, bringing it back to the top and replaying the routine until he was tired. But as with age of most living things, his body was wearing out. Rocco will be missed.
