Our church had a request for volunteers to help with Church on the Street on a Saturday earlier this month. Pastor Chris who had been a pastor at the church we attended in Watertown and had been a pastor at the church we attend in Sioux Falls, is now the pastor for Church on the Street. Our Saturday morning was open so we registered to volunteer, not knowing exactly what we might be volunteering to do, other than serving food.
canopy tent for cooking the hot dogs and putting them in buns
treat bags had to be assembled
altar and lawn chairs were set up in the park
food team at work
They grilled 300 hotdogs. Bags of chips, candy, treat bags, coffee and water were given to all who came until all was gone. There were also clothes, blankets, shoes and other clothing items for those in need.

A Ministry with the Unhoused of Sioux Falls

It is our mission to take the gifts of the Church out to the people who,
for whatever reason, can not come inside.
We build relationships as God did through listening, asking questions, being present and consistent, and showing compassion to all of God’s people. We believe that every human being, regardless of whether they are housed or unhoused, deserves a community where they feel at home. We look a little different than most churches, but where it matters we are exactly the same.
My wildflower/annual flower bed has produced flowers of all colors. I finally cut some for a bouquet we enjoyed for a week.
We drove to Mitchell for a meeting so we added some geocaching and lunch with friends.
Until our next adventure...
