Climbing Flat Iron

Each day we gaze in awe at the Superstition Mountains.

My favorite part of the mountain range is Flat Iron,
a peak to the west of our backyard range.

Sometimes, coming down is more dangerous or
more difficult than going up.

The jutting peak is Flat Iron.
Flat Iron has an elevation of 2800'.
They aren't there yet!

It is 5 miles total, in and out.
Our group rates the hike as difficult.

These 8 guys & 2 gals made it to the top.

This was Curt's second trip to the top.
He first climbed Flat Iron in 2006.
He said this time the trip was much easier.

This is the top of the Flat Iron.
