It was a cool and windy morning...
It was a cool and windy morning when the hiking club began their climb of Flatiron Mt. last Friday.
You know it is chilly by looking at the hoods and gloves. And there's Katie in her shorts???
The goal for the day is the peak on the right.
The first mile is a piece of cake. It is the only easy part of the 6 mile hike.
That is the goal...Flatiron.
A view of Apache Junction on the way up.
The hoodoos in the background. Some of the group hiked another 15 minutes or so to reach them. Curt did not.
It was cold at the top. There is no sign of his long-sleeved neon green shirt.
A field of hoodoos.
This basin or Siphon Draw is about the half-way point. You can see the water trail trickling down the flat rock basin. There were a lot of hikers on this trail on Friday.
A backward glance at the imposing 2780' elevation gain peak.
Interesting rock formations along the way.
All done in about 6 hours. Not bad...
