Wednesday's Hike

The hiking group went to South Mt. on Wednesday to hike the Hidden Valley Loop. South Mt. is a popular hiking area. It is the largest city park in the US and just one of several in the Phoenix area. The hiking group was smaller than usual as we had just had 2 inches of rain and some of the hikers thought the trail would be muddy. Not so.

Curt says this hike has it all...unusual rock formations

 great trail amongst the boulders

 palo verde trees

narrow passage way...Fat Man's Pass

hummingbirds (look at his shoe)

I'm sure there is an explanation for this pose???

 rocks to slide on

 tunnels to walk through

 saguaros

easy trail without a lot of elevation

a look to the community to the south...Chandler?

downtown Phoenix to the north
