The Hills are Alive...

The Hills Are Alive...
with the color of Mexican poppies! The December rain must have come at the right time because the hikers are seeing poppies on the mountain sides. Wednesday's hike to Walnut Canyon was new to Curt. It showed as he took 69 very good photos. I had a hard time selecting which ones to post.

This was not the group's first trip to Walnut Canyon. They took this hike while we were in California the end of December. The hikers arriving in January also missed this hike and requested a return visit as it was touted as 'the hike that has something for everyone'. I intended to go along, but the ankle isn't in tip-top shape and I had scheduled a massage for early that afternoon. The massage was wonderful. But so was the hike. Judge for yourself...

Something For Everyone: interesting rock formations

 Some of the 35 hikers

Something For Everyone: distant ridge lines

Something For Everyone: some easy, flat trail

Something For Everyone: a desert sheep sighting

Something For Everyone: water pools for the dogs

  Something For Everyone: Mexican poppies

Something For Everyone: large Mexican poppies

Something For Everyone: hillsides of saguaros

Something For Everyone: interesting shaped cacti

Something For Everyone: desert wild flowers

Something For Everyone: interesting dead trees

Something For Everyone: more interesting rocks

Something For Everyone: awesome colored canyon walls

Something For Everyone: flowers of purple and gold

Something For Everyone: water lines on the canyon walls

Something For Everyone: uniquely shaped saguaro

This hike WILL be on my list for next year, especially at this time of the year.  In hiker speak, it really does have something for everyone!
