The Bees

The bees or whatever little flying, sugar loving insect they happen to be have invaded, and I mean INVADED the hummingbird feeders.

The bees were so thick and bothersome, they chased away the Alpha hummingbird. And he did try to get to the feeders for a drink.

The flying pests were so bothersome, we had to move this feeder to the back also. After a day or two of watching more and more of them coming to the feeders, hubby and I removed all three. The thought was the feeders would go back up if the insects go into hibernation or migrate.

Then a neighbor shared her success with Skin So Soft. She suggested we rub it on the edge of the feeder. The smell does not bother the hummingbirds, but the insects do not like it. I will try it this weekend and share results next week.
