Another Try at Night Geocaching

I found another geocache in the area that was designed for a night find. That means the cache owner marks a trail with either reflective tape or reflector tacks to lead cachers to the cache. I asked Jon & Sherry if they would like to go along since they had not logged it either.

We started the evening with a little snack at our house; an attempt to eat some of the food before we leave and head north. We also planned to look for two other caches before it got dark. We found one of the two. We spent so much time in the CO's (cache owner) yard, he came out to gloat (not really) about his very sneaky hide. We called a friend (Thanks Don) who gave us a hint. But even with the hint, the cache was well disguised. Jon made the find. We headed out to the desert for the second cache, but it was too dark. Hubby went back a couple days later and did not find it. So we will wait until we return later in the year to look for it.

Now for the night cache adventure.

As it often is, the sunset was awesome.

Jon and I were taking photos.
We had only 2 GPSs anyway.

Just too pretty to pass up.

After a couple missed markers (reflectors) and some
discussion about what does right mean...
the cache was found.

Hubby & Sherry looking at and adding to the SWAG (stuff we
all get) in the container. Jon and I are visually documenting.

Sherry stamping her 'handle' (caching name).

I logged our names.

The itty bitty red reflector in the center of the photo
was the marking to show we were at the end of our hunt.

This night cache was a little trickier as the CO used
very small pieces of reflective tape on brush limbs
from ground level to eye level. We had to really look
to see if it was 1 marking (on the right trail) or
2 markings (turn left) or 3 markings (turn right).
The markers were not grouped together in the bush,
but could be spread out from top to bottom.

It was NOT a very big reflector! Actually it was the
pile of rocks and the GPS coordinates that helped
show us the cache location.

Much more enjoyable to night cache with 4 people!
Thanks Sherry & Jon for joining us.
We are looking forward to maybe some caching in
the Black Hills this summer with you.
Don't find all of them before we get there!
