Cacti Update

It will be hard to do a comparison, but these were the sizes
of the rippled, fire stick, & agave last spring when we left.

This is the rippled prickly pear (my name for it) that we planted last spring. You can see the large 'bites' enjoyed by the javalinas! Dang Things!
This is the rippled prickly pear last April. I may have to take another photo to do a better comparison to see how much it has grown...minus the eaten parts!

I know this one has grown as it has lots of new end growth. It currently isn't orange and colorful. This is a pencil cactus, also known as fire stick because the ends get orange as in the next picture which is from April. This is the only cacti we purchased. The others were 'free'.

This was a piece of the rippled prickly pear that broke off when we planted the big one. We planted it in a location that was perfect (morning sunshine all summer) and it did survive, except for the javalina bite marks!

All the white ends show where the javalinas have nibbled and enjoyed my cactus! If you look closely, you can see the remains of some red/orange...it must have blossomed over the summer. Cool! I had put the plastic container around it to protect it from golf carts and human traffic.

This rippled piece didn't make it. Rabbits lived in the pot with the cacti as all those round brown  'balls' on the rocks are rabbit doo-doo!

This is an agave. It was a freebie from a neighbor. It has really grown as has the second one we planted in the back along the patio.

This is our other 'free' planting. This is an aloe and came from my aunt and uncle when they were thinning their plants in Mesa. It also grew quite a bit over the summer. It is in front of the AC unit and is meant to 'hide' the unit in a few years. It will.

I used another internet program, Safari, to do this post. Don't know why Firefox would not allow the photos.
