It was an awesome experience. I do not know the official count, if there could be an official count, but I am thinking about 2000 cachers from all over the world.
one of the French geocachers was wearing
his Event Pants
we ran into the geocacher from Germany
and our CV friends, Jon & Sherry
and cachers from Yankton & Valentine NE
and geocachers from CV via OR & MI
I did not take photos of everyone we knew, and maybe should have. We ran into other cachers from Tucson, from Minneapolis, from AZ who attend events we attend or host in AZ.
there were statues in the area
the event was held in Solstice Plaza
home to Google, Adobe, Geocaching,
and many other techie companies
statues at a bike rack sporting geocaching T-Shirts
We also met a group of may 20 cyclists who were arriving in Seattle from Rhode Island. They had ridden across the US and were heading for the Pacific Ocean. They told us they had been staying in churches along the way. They were all young!
cachers gathering for the group photo
people of all ages and abilities
we saw wheel chairs, crutches, canes
many families, too
official photographers on the rooftops
a drone getting photos also
not everyone would wear an umbrella on their head
(or underpants over their pants)
or pounds and pounds of metal (travel bugs)
as jewelry or hat accessories
Celebrating 15 years of Geocaching
the inflatable log book
Hubby identifying our home
a regular size can of beans was placed in the Original Stash,
the cache we found near Portland OR
When the official plaque was placed at the location
a little digging to place the permanent plaque
produced the can of beans that had been in the
5 gallon bucket buried by Dave Ulmer
(the bucket had been destroyed by snowplows and mowers)
We have seen that original can of beans
there were HQ speakers, sharing info
& answering questions
there were special caches to get us around in the
neighborhood
there were caches just for children
There is one more event on Sunday. We will go to the event, but not participate in the 5 mile walk. We don't think either of us could handle a walk in an old abandoned railroad tunnel after all the walking we have done the past two days, plus the time standing on cement. There will be things to do at the event that won't involve miles of walking.
Other than the traffic, rather the roads that are not able to handle all the traffic, our time in Seattle has been fun. The traffic is a story all its own. We are very happy we will not be driving downtown any more.
Unbelievable.........saw some folks from Canyon Vistas!!!! Typical of the French!!!!!!!! Actually it fascinating to me to see all the gadgets, hats with metal hanging and just plain seeing all sorts of happy people.
