Wednesday's Hike Photos

The hiking club hiked in San Tan Mt. Regional Park on Wednesday. At low 80s for a temp that morning, it was too hot for me. However, I did bring a van full of spouses to join the group for lunch at one of the best burger places in the area. Here are Curt's photos:

Chino, left and Reilly, right joined their owners on the hike.

Curt was on a new trail (for him) and photographed
this crested cactus.

While the cause is not known, sometimes damage occurs
to the growing tip of a saguaro, causing a fanlike growth.
Crested saguaros are thought to occur once in every
200,000 plants.

Curt found some interesting saguaros today!

Saguaro branches always grow upward.
Occasionally frost or snow will freeze the
tissue at the base of a limb and damage it, and
the weight of the branch pulls it down.

This one looks like it is moving right along.

If the branch survives, the growing tip will
turn upward again.

Just like many objects in nature I enjoy
photographing, no two are alike.
Good job, hon.
