State #10 on the GeoAdventure Tour

state #10 of the 16 we will drive through
from South Dakota to Arizona

still seeing some logging, but not as much as in the previous states
logging truck was parked next to us at a rest stop,
so I too a few photos

part of the history of the area

more farmland, cotton fields

farmer 'packing' the recently harvested corn field
also saw bean (soybeans) fields that had not been harvested yet

the one 'mansion' we saw/drove by
first mayor's home in Humbolt TN
although the gates were open, I did not get too close for photos
I did see where the name two oaks came from
two HUGE oak trees on the front lawn

now an event center

one small community tried to 'dress-up' their buildings
the one next to it was painted in two shades of pink
in a paisley pattern

gas prices in TN were a wee bit higher

spent most of the day on a narrow state highway
no pull-offs for a truck towing a 25' travel trailer

the squirrel and I had a stand-off at the persimmon tree
no geocache, so I guess he won

history of Henderson TN

Tuesday was more than one state...we crossed into 4, got geocaches in 3, were on the wrong road way too long, and crossed the Mississippi River three times. It should only have been once. Oh well. We got to where we needed to be, safely. That is why we called it an adventure!

  1. Oh my, over the Mississippi 3 times. It's one thing just to be in the truck but when you are pulling a trailer it makes it difficult sometimes to find a spot to turn around! Such an adventure😄
